Chordate Medical is a Swedish private company founded in 2005 by co-founder Prof Jan-Erik Juto at Karolinska University Hospital. A novel treatment with neuromodulation by Kinetic Oscillation Stimulation - KOS - have been developed and patented. Studies have been conducted within non-allergic rhinitis - NAR - and primary congested nose and stuffiness. A CE-mark for NAR was obtained end of 2014. First deliveries to ENT-clinics were made during the summer of 2015.
Chordate System S100 contains of a Controller (base unit) providing pre-set of time - frequency and amplitude. For the disposable Catheter an optional Headband fixates the Catheter after being inserted to the nasal cavity of the patient. The kinetic oscillation is a mechanical stimulation of the nasal mucosa and the autonomic nervous system - ANS.
The treatment is non-invasive - without any anaesthesia or pharma. Itcan be considered as a mild treatment without risks. There are no observed or documented side effects of severe kind after treatment. So far there is more than 500 patients being treated and documented for more than 1000 treatments over many years’ time.
